Elevator
Calculator 3
Where the elevator's load goes
Example inputs; the calculator updates these with yours. Imperial first, metric in parentheses.
Example inputs from the calculator defaults. Losses ignored.
What the elevator looks like
A drum winds rigging over a top pulley; in a 2-stage cascade the carriage moves twice as far as the rope.
Schematic, not to scale.
Without a soft limit the hard stop multiplies the current-limit tension
Failure line appears once the allowable is verified.
Allowables pending. No verified allowable applies yet, so this is not a pass or a fail.

How this works
Lifts against gravity the whole way, then slams into a hard stop. Shows steady lift force and holding current, then the tension spike at the stop without a soft limit.
Steady-state math says it is fine. The hard stop is where it breaks, and soft limits are a mechanical protection.
Run the carriage into the stop at full and half speed and watch the current trace. Repeat with soft limits on.
Estimates for learning. Losses are ignored. Verify the numbers before relying on them.
